Executive Function and Classroom Design: Strategies to Support Student Success

A 3-Hour In Person Workshop at

Loyola Marymount University

led by Lindsay Astor Grant

Do your students find it challenging to organize their materials, manage their time effectively, complete homework, plan long-term assignments, or navigate their digital workspaces? Are you noticing more students struggling to maintain attention or control impulses during classroom instruction? You are not alone. Educators are increasingly observing that students are having more difficulty developing the essential executive function (EF) skills necessary to

be a successful student.

This interactive workshop is designed to equip educators with the insights and resources needed to support and enhance the development of EF skills in their students. By integrating these skills into the language curriculum, teachers will help improve overall academic performance and promote positive classroom behaviors. Additionally, the workshop will focus on designing classroom environments that foster EF skill development, creating an educational space tailored to meet the diverse needs of all learners. You will leave with practical tools and strategies to increase student attention and engagement in your classroom activities, while supporting the development of emotional regulation, impulse control, time management, organizational skills, working memory, and problem solving.
